Where I travelled in 2018

22-02-2019
Where did 2018 go? It happened so fast, I feel like I blinked and it was Christmas already. Luckily I got to travel to some amazing places throughout the year, here are some tips on the places I went to in 2018.

ROME
Italy’s capital, I must admit this city has landed in my top 3 favourite city’s I have visited so far and I completely understand why they call it one of the world’s most romantic and inspiring cities. Ancient icons such as the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Pantheon are just astonishing.

Rome is expensive and busy, book ahead to secure the best deals on hotels. I purchased Roma Passes online which included free entry to 2 museums, free use of Public transport & reduced price ticketing for events, exhibitions and tourist services for 72 hours.

I would 100% recommend Rome as a “MUST” visit.

MARRAKECH

What a place to go for some winter sun, a quick break to warm up my bones before Christmas and just what everyone needs in November.

Only staying for three nights, I spent most of my time around the pool and the hotel however I did manage to adventure out to the Old city on a tour to the markets. This is something else, you have to see it to believe it - acrobats, singers, musicians, snake charmers, tarot reading, henna tattoos, monkeys. You need to be prepared to haggle over the price of things. Sellers usually start with a ridiculous price and they expect to bargain with you. The souk is like a rabbit warren, you can get lost so easily looking at the huge assortment of stuff to buy - glass, pottery, antiques, clothing, jewellery, leather, furniture, fabrics, lighting...The list is endless.

This defiantly was a colourful city to visit, one I will remember for a long time.

PRAGUE

I always wanted to visit a Christmas market abroad and Prague certainly didn’t disappoint. These markets are among the best in Europe and What a beautiful toy town city this is. Step inside a snow globe of winter wonder with each stall selling beautiful hand craft gifts, various mulled wines and delicious chocolate snacks called trdelnik. This is a perfect place to get you in the Christmas mood.

Make sure you take a stroll to Charles Bridge, it’s a great place to be able to see the whole city and a photographers dream.

Tip - I always purchase a travel book from Lonely Planet before I travel anywhere, I have quite the collection.

Please leave a comment below on the places you have recently visited and would recommend, I would love to have some inspiration for 2019.
